In a world where exotic Italian cars are often bred for competition, Lamborghini is the exception to the rule. Ferruccio Lamborghini initially built tractors. By the mid-sixties, Ferruccio had a thriving business in agricultural machinery. He began building cars purely as a hobby. By 1965 production of the Lamborghini GT had risen to around 200 units and despite the company avoiding races, it posed significant competition to Ferrari. Of course, Lamborghini introduced the well-known Miura; one of the highlights of the famous Italian brand. The Miura had a transversely rear-mounted engine and was introduced at the Turin Auto Show in November 1964. Lamborghini subsequently built 475 units in the following four years.

In 1968, Lamborghini returned with the Espada. This time, the engine was front-mounted and featured rear-wheel drive. With a low and long design, equipped with a V12 engine with six Weber carburettors, this car had everything to excite many enthusiasts. Lamborghini had Marcello Gandini of Bertone design the bodywork, and, boy, did he create a beautiful model. We see an enormously long wind shield and a curved rear window. With the arrival of the Espada Series II in 1970, came some significant changes. The engine received more power, a different steering wheel, grille, and dashboard. The brakes were now ventilated, which better suited the increase in power. It did not stop here. In 1972, the Espada received another update, designated as Series III. Once again, the engine power rose to an impressive 375 hp.

The example we offer here in Brummen is a very nice and well-maintained Espada from the Series III, thus the last series of the Espada range, with the fantastic 375 hp engine. This is a matching numbers example from the third owner with only 102,000 miles on the clock.

The bodywork is in a good and solid condition with correctly aligned panels. A few years ago, this Espada underwent restoration and mechanical overhaul work. The car was also repainted. Mechanically, this Lamborghini is in very good condition. The overhauled engine making this example delightful to drive.

This Series 3 features a very beautiful and entirely original blue leather interior with period correct patina. Also equipped with tinted glass all around, air conditioning, the original wheels, and Lamborghini certificate. A beautiful Series 3 in a very nice condition!
