Descrizione

The Jaguar XK140 DHC, successor to the XK120, was introduced in 1954 and sold from 1955 to 1957. Whereas the XK120 was built with a focus on  speed,  the XK140 was built  for more ease of driving and comfort. Because the engine in the XK140 is placed about 10 centimeters further forward, the legroom was increased and the car became suitable for taller people.

With the transition from the XK120 to the XK140, the characteristic lines have been retained. Jaguar built the XK140 as a Roadster (OTS, Open Two-Seater where the soft-top folds away behind the seats and the windscreen can be removed),  Cabriolet (DHC, Drop Head Coupe where the soft-top remains visible when folded) and Coupé (FHC, Fixed Head Coupe).

‘Collection by Vermant’ is delighted to present you this Jaguar XK140 SE DHC from February 1956. Presented here is a car which is fitted with its ‘matching numbers’ 3.4l 6- cylinder engine. The original (and optional through Special Equipment)) ‘C-Type’ cilinderhead gives this car a power output of an astonishing 210HP. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a manual 4 speed gearbox with overdrive.

The car was delivered on the 6th of March 1956 to Jaguar Cars, New York and was specified in the colour Arbour Green accompanied by a Suede Green interior.

In 1997 the car was imported and subsequently registered in the Netherlands. In the following years after importation, the car received a makeover where it received the colour specification in which it is presented today. A red exterior with a beige leather interior.

According to the service documents, which came with the car, it was only driven 15.000 miles since 2002. The current readout on the odometer is 49.200 miles. Despite its age, the car is still in excellent condition and has been checked by our in house Jaguar specialist.

The car currently comes with the following documents:

-        Registration documents

-        Heritage trust certificate

-        Many service invoices
