Originally, this Z1 was delivered new in 1991 by BMW dealer Severs in Woerden to its first and only owner. In more than 32 years, the car has driven just 19,000 KM, the service intervals and odometer readings have been kept in the service book.
In total, only 96 units of the Z1 were originally delivered in the Netherlands, 40 of which were in the red ''Toprot'' colour. The colour combination is very tasteful and a very nice contrast to the leather interior.
The bodywork is tight, partly due to its extremely low mileage. The doors, sills, mudguards, bonnet and boot lid have correct fits and are in very good condition. The black convertible top is still like new. Recently, the Z1 had an extensive service where the distribution set, water pump, spark plugs, engine oil, filters, wishbone rubbers were replaced, among other things. As a result, the car drives wonderfully.
If you are a BMW enthusiast looking for an original Z1 with exceptionally low mileage and from the 1st owner, this is your chance!
Below is general information about the BMW Z1
The BMW Z1 was designed by Harm Lagaay in 1986. The car, which was presented in 1987, produced exactly 8,000 units between 1989 and 1991. More than 75% of these were sold in its home market, Germany. The most striking feature of this car was the doors, which could sink into the bodywork. That bodywork consisted entirely of Thermoplastic, moulded into body panels by General Electric. The car was also the first car in the world that could achieve 1g in cornering with standard tyres, partly due to the inverted wing profile bonnet and the transverse exhaust that also had an inverted wing profile.
A 2.5-litre 6-in-line provided propulsion. It produced 171 hp at 5,800 rpm and 218 Nm of torque. The car had a five-speed manual gearbox and could reach 225 km/h. It sprinted from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
Initially, only 4,000 Z1s were to be produced but once the cars arrived at dealerships, there were already more than 5,000 orders and it was decided to double production to 8,000 units.
