We claimed 120 mph (for the XK 120), a speed unheard of for a production car in those days.” – William Heynes, Chief Engineer, Jaguar Cars.

The XK120 was unquestionably one of the finest sports cars of its day, as its chassis provided amazing handling and its engine delivered record-breaking top speed.

Jaguar launched the Jaguar XK120 in 1948 at the London Motor Show as a way to test out a new engine and gauge interest in a new body design. It intended the car to facilitate the evolution of the brand.

Jaguar’s 3.4-litre straight-six is perhaps one of the greatest engine designs of all time, and it would prove so successful that the company would retain its basic design for use in their road going cars for nearly 40 years.

This engine is absolutely fabulous and due to the perfect power to weight ratio the car has an amazing performance.

The XK 120 is a car which can be driven on a racetrack but it is also a fantastic car to use for holiday trips. The big engine is great to drive on the highway because it does not produces very high revs at higher speed and is therefore very comfortable, but because of the torque an XK is also a superb car to race around in the mountains, and please believe us. With the beautiful engine/exhaust sound it will 100% give a smile on everybody’s face.

ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

Quite a lot of XK 120’s have been built and therefore it can be difficult to find the right car. A car which is unmolested and with a nice history like this example.

This Jaguar XK 120 OTS was newly delivered at the 12th. of June 1951 and is believed o have been newly delivered to a sir Foti Salvatore.

According to the XK Data files, this specific example has been owned by the same family for 57 years.

It was then found in totally original condition in every aspect including it’s original Black paint and red/tan interior. Even the original tires were still on the car confirming that the car drove originally 40.600 miles after 57 years.

Today the Jaguar’s odometer shows 42.000 miles!

During the body restoration of the car, the body has been soda blasted to bare metal and afterwards epoxy primed including the chassis frame and underbody.

During the restoration the Jaguar has been restored to it’s original delivery specification being Black with a Red / Biscuit interior.

Due to the low mileage the original matching numbers engine is still in the car.

This engine has been overhauled during the restoration.

Another unique detail on this Jaguar is the history file which comes with the car.

Inside the file one can find several very old pictures with the car and it’s owner. A great addition to this already special car!

CONDITION EXTERIOR

Pictures on file show the condition of the body during the restoration and we can conclude that the body was in an extremely good / almost rust free condition.

Therefore the body is nowadays extremely straight with perfect hood, door and trunk fittings.

The chrome on the car is in a wonderful condition as well and fits very well on the car without any gaps.

The restoration has been carefully done keeping an eye on original specifications resulting in keeping the correct (body) details.

We recently changed the tires on the Jaguar due to the fact that we brought the Jaguar to Italy as a spare car for the Mille Miglia.

CONDITION INTERIOR

During the restoration the interior of the Jaguar has been restored in the original color scheme as new. Red with biscuit as is mentioned on the Jaguar build sheet.

The interior is restored with period correct materials and is in a wonderful condition.

The car comes with a tonneau cover.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

This Jaguar looks impressively nice but the driving experience is even more impressive.

For some reason every classic car drives slightly different even as it is the same brand or type. Some cars are handling more heavy than others and certainly after a serious restoration.

This Jaguar XK is an example which is mechanically in a very good order. The engine runs beautifully and is very strong. The setting of the engine is perfect and the engine response very responsive on the gas pedal.

The car starts immediately and the transmission shifts very easy and smooth.

The suspension feels very tight and the car is driving fabulous on lower and on higher speeds.

The Jaguar has been recently serviced in our workshop. A compression test with excellent result was carried out and the inspection from the underpart of the car (the chassis) resulted in the conclusion that this car is impressively nice restored.
