In the 1990s, Porsche faced a global recession. This affected the sales figures of the Porsche 911, which had been part of Porsche’s lineup since 1963. Some people also viewed the model as outdated. Porsche listened and wanted to come up with a new concept. The Japanese brand Mazda had brought a successful model to the market with the MX5, and Porsche decided to do it their own way. Porsche introduced the Boxster, and it was immediately clear what Porsche had in mind. The brand looked into its own history books and used the iconic Porsche 550 Spider as an inspiration. Porsche decided to place the engine in the middle of the car, and in 1996, the Porsche Boxster was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show.

Initially, the Boxster was available with a 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine that was quick but did not offer the performance to outdo its competitors. However, the excellent road handling, thanks in part to the perfect weight distribution, made it a delightful car to drive with fine steering. In 1999, Porsche introduced the Boxster S. With a six-speed gearbox and a 3.2-liter engine with 250 hp, this Porsche offered serious performance and, at the same time, was still cheaper than the Porsche 911. From 1999 onwards, the regular Boxster also had a 2.7-liter engine with 220 hp. In 2002, the updated Boxster was introduced, which resulted in headlights that, for example, more closely resembled those of the Porsche 911.

The Porsche we offer here is a later Boxster with the desirable 2.7-liter engine and in a chic color combination of a black exterior with black leather upholstery. On April 20, 2004, this Porsche was delivered to Porsche Munich. All the original booklets, including the service book, which is fully stamped by the Porsche dealer from new, are included. Maintenance also took place in the Netherlands by the official Porsche dealer, and we provide multiple invoices detailing the maintenance. Technically, this Porsche is in very good condition and has covered only 112,000 kilometers in about twenty years.

This example drives fantastically. Once on the road, with the low seating position, excellent road handling, and fantastic engine, it all harmonizes and offers a lot of driving pleasure. This Porsche also has a fine equipment list including Xenon lighting, seat heating, automatic air conditioning, and so on.

The bodywork still looks great, including the paint and the fit of the various body parts. The convertible top is still very neat, and we can see by looking at the wheels that the Porsche has always been handled with care. Inside, we find a beautiful interior with fine leather upholstery that is still in very neat condition. The whole package, including carpets, is fresh and in good condition. The 2.7-liter engine runs fantastically, the gearbox operates smoothly, and the engine has quite a bit of pulling power on board. A very fine Boxster that you will enjoy a lot.
