Descrizione

Restored, a very stylish color combination and great driving characteristics: the first generation Maserati Quattroporte is already rising in appreciation at a very high pace, but in this condition and with a lot of documentation, this could well be the most interesting 'QP' of the moment .

The Quattroporte of the first series is one of the rarest models of the brand, with 679 units built. Where he had to compete against Facel Vega's and Lagonda's, the target group was still relatively small, which meant that the number produced remained so low. The press praised the driving characteristics, the design and the materials used. The fantastic 4,136 cc eight-cylinder engine gets a lot of attention, in addition to a beautiful sound and nice running, the eight-cylinder engine, placed in a V-arrangement, manages to deliver a power of about 260 hp. Even today you don't have to be ashamed of that, but at the time it was an ability that appealed to the imagination.

In short: the Quattroporte was one of the few sedans that many car enthusiasts could see on their dream list, among sports cars and other exotics. In 1967, this specific Quattroporte ensured that the first owner was able to move his car from 'dream list' to the 'actual possession' list. This owner, living in New York, owned his luxury limousine for several years before leaving for a second owner in America. The car then entered the Vasek Pollak Collection, where it remained for several decades.
The car has recently been completely restored and of course repainted in this beautiful, stylish light blue metallic paint. Chrome work, lighting parts and things such as wheels and windows: the Quattroporte makes an exceptionally beautiful impression.

The 4.1 liter V8 found in the Berlina from Modena is a downsized derivative of the 5000 GT engine and produces approximately 260 hp. At the time, one could opt for a manual ZF gearbox and a Borg-Warner automatic gearbox, with the example you see here being equipped with the five-speed manual gearbox. The fact that this copy is from 1967 means that it is the version with double headlights. The American version already had them, but from the end of 1966 they can also be found on European Quattroportes. Another difference of this '1B' is the completely changed interior compared to previous variants. The first thing you notice is a lot of wood, but actually almost the entire dashboard is new.

The blue paint fits very well with the modest but very stylish interior. Black leather, wood and glossy steel play a central role in the room and the interior is also light due to the ample glass. Countless meters in front of the nose, an arsenal of toggle switches in the center of the dashboard and a wide center tunnel: sitting in the Quattroporte, both front and rear, is a special experience. The interior makes a beautifully original impression with leather seats that are not only in beautiful condition but also show their age. Well maintained and therefore still smooth, you can see that this is not a recently reupholstered interior. We love it! The beautifully wood-inlaid dashboard includes seven gauges that are visible through the steering wheel. They all look and function perfectly.

The 4.1 liter eight-cylinder engine is also in a very healthy condition. The engine sounds beautiful and turns beautifully. It is very inviting to drive and that is possible: the Quattroporte drives excellently and from the first meters gives the idea of being something special, something exclusive. A car for connoisseurs, who, just like then, want something different than what everyone already wants. Then be quick is the advice, the Quattroporte '1' is starting to gather more and more enthusiasts. This Quattroporte comes with a spacious binder with invoices, history and documentation.
