LAGONDA LG45 Drophead Coupé

The Lagonda Company was founded in 1906 in England, specifically in Staines, Middlesex by Wilbur Gunn. This American obtained British citizenship in 1891 and the name Lagonda came from an event in his hometown. Due to its limited financial resources, the company changed hands several times and in 1935 it was bought by Alan P. Good who managed to persuade W.O. Bentley to leave Rolls Royce and join Lagonda.  As a result, the LG45 was fitted with a lower and heavier body, and Bentley used its experience to refine the Meadows engine.

'Collection by Vermant' is proud to offer you this beautiful and very rare Lagonda LG45 Drophead Coupé. After all, only 278 units were built! This Lagonda is equipped with a 4.5 Liter, six in line, Meadows engine. This is mated to a synchronized G10 gearbox with 4 gears. This 4.5 liter engine develops an output of 120 HP. This Lagonda LG45 came into the possession of the last owner in 2015. He had bought it from LMB Racing, the Belgian Lagonda specialist. LMB Racing had also fully restored the car on behalf of the previous German owner.  During the restoration, everything was tackled and some upgrades were also placed to make the engine more durable, such as reinforced pistons, piston rods, crankshaft,...

During the restoration, this Lagonda LG45 Drophead Coupé was also repainted in its original and iconic colour of the British automotive industry, namely British Racing Green. The paintwork of this LG45 is still in excellent condition today and has a very high quality finish.  The spoked rims, finished in black, form a beautiful whole with the new black mohair soft top.

The Lagonda has a beautiful patinated leather interior in dark brown color. This interior is still in excellent condition and ready for many more years of driving pleasure. The wooden finish on the door panels and instrument panel has been restored and is really in top condition.

To increase the ease of use of this Lagonda, some improvements have been made over the years. For example, it was decided to convert it from 6V to 12V. This allowed for stronger batteries to be fitted and consequently also a heavier alternator and starter. In addition, a user-friendly solution for the pedals has also been chosen by changing the position of the accelerator and brake pedals (brake middle, accelerator pedal right). This can easily be restored to its original state.

This Lagonda is a truly unique opportunity to own a legendary car.
