The Manta has been preserved primarily for classic car events and has been stored indoors for most of its life post-restoration. It retains its factory configuration. The exterior retains its 1996 respray, which is generally well-preserved with some imperfections. There are small areas of rust forming behind the rear bumper, though the structural integrity is maintained. Previous conservation work on the underbody has held up well. 

Inside, the synthetic leather seats remain largely intact, showing some wear and tear. The headliner is untidy but comes with a replacement that has not yet been installed. Some sun damage is visible under the rear window, a common issue for classic cars of this age. All gauges and instruments function, though the odometer slightly underreports mileage. The fuse box requires some attention. 

The Opel Manta was introduced in 1970 as Opel’s response to the Ford Capri. Designed to be a stylish, affordable coupe, the Manta quickly gained popularity for its balance of performance and practicality. The 1600S Semi Luxe version offered a step up in comfort while retaining the lightweight, rear-wheel-drive dynamics that made the model so engaging to drive. Opel positioned the Manta as a European alternative to American pony cars, featuring a sleek design inspired by the Chevrolet Camaro. The model developed a loyal following and became an icon of the 1970s, especially in motorsport and tuner circles.

Despite the success of the Manta A, Opel replaced it with the Manta B in 1975. However, the original A-series models, like this one, remain highly sought after by collectors due to their classic styling and mechanical simplicity. The 1.6L engine in this example was a mid-range option, providing enough power for enjoyable cruising without excessive fuel consumption.
